As promised, this post will look at a website used to find, review and submit comments on Federal rules that are open for comment and published in the Federal Register. In January 2003, was launched to provide public users access to federal regulatory content.

In the past, if members of the public were interested in commenting on a regulation, they would need to know the sponsoring agency, when it would be published, review it in a reading room, and then adhere to the comment process specific to each agency. removed the logistical barriers that made it difficult for a citizen to participate in the complex regulatory process. Through, the public can participate in and impact Federal rules and regulations.
As the Chair of the Advocacy Committee, I use this site to search for regulations and track comments. Our legal counsel

submits comment letters on behalf of SVU, but members can also comment here.

As an example, click on the link below:

To look at comments, click on "view all documents and comments in this Docket":

Then, you can search for comments from the results.

Find the SVU Comment Letter here:

Try finding comment letters for American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) to see how other organizations responded to these regulations.

In my next post, I will find out about Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs).
