The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is seeking nominees and applicants for a total of 5 Director positions - 3 Technologist and 2 At-Large Directors - to serve on the SVU Board beginning in January 2020. As SVU enters the final year of its three-year strategic plan, its Directors will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of the profession and the Society.

Opportunity 1: Technologist Directors (3) -  2 for three-year terms, 1 for a one-year term

Two of the Technologist Directors are three-year positions for 2020-22, and one is for a one-year term in 2020.

In July 2019, SVU Members will elect a Technologist Director for a three-year term. From the pool of remaining candidates, the SVU Board of Directors will appoint the remaining 2 Technologist Directors, and determine the length of term for each (one year or three years).

Eligibility for Technologist Directors

To be eligible to serve as a Technologist Director, a candidate must:

  • Be an SVU Member in good standing for at least one year prior to election.
  • Have achieved and maintained a professional credential in vascular technology (RVS or RVT).
  • Have as their primary employment activity the performance of noninvasive vascular testing, supervision of noninvasive vascular personnel, management of a noninvasive vascular testing or diagnostic facility, or education or training in the field of vascular technology.

The SVU Governance Committee will review all qualified applications and may consider other candidates as well, and may opt to conduct interviews. Three finalists will be presented to the Board of Directors for election at its August meeting. Candidates will be advised of their status during the process.

Opportunity 2: At Large Directors (2) - Each for a one-year term

The two At-Large Directors are one-year positions for 2020. At-Large Directors bring special skills and experience to SVU relevant to the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.

Eligibility for At-Large Directors

Candidates do not necessarily need experience in vascular ultrasound to serve as At-Large Directors, nor are they required to be SVU Members. However, they are encouraged to become SVU members if elected.

The SVU Board is seeking two accomplished candidates with demonstrated skills and experience in one of three key areas:

  • Grant Management,
  • Learning Management Systems, i. e. online learning in a healthcare context, OR
  • Success leading a scientific or medical journal through the Medline/PubMed Index application process.

The role of At-Large Directors is to supplement Board, Committee and staff efforts to move the organization forward in accordance with its strategic plan. Directors must have a willingness to actively apply their skills in the role of At-Large Director.

The Governance Committee will review all qualified applications and may consider other candidates as well, and may opt to conduct interviews. Two finalists will be presented to the Board of Directors for election at its August meeting. Candidates will be advised of their status during the process.

Obligations of all SVU Directors, regardless of category:

Applicants for all Director positions must be able to commit to travel to two in-person meetings, one in winter (January) and one in summer (the day prior to the SVU Annual Conference), as well as participate in two or more conference calls during the year.
