The SVU is seeking applicants for a total of 2 Technologist Directors and 2 At-Large Directors, to serve on the SVU Board beginning in January 2024. SVU Directors play a vital role in shaping the future of the profession and the Society. OPPORTUNITY 1: Technologist Directors (2) - Each for a three-year termThe open Technologist Director positions are three-year positions for 2024-2026.In July 2023, SVU Members will elect one Technologist Director for a three-year term. From the pool of remaining candidates, the SVU Board of Directors will appoint one additional Technologist Director for a three-year term. Eligibility for Technologist DirectorsTo be eligible to serve as a Technologist Director, a candidate must:• Be an SVU Member in good standing for at least one year prior to election.• Have achieved and maintained a professional credential in vascular technology (RVS or RVT).• Have as their primary employment activity the performance of noninvasive vascular testing, supervision of noninvasive vascular personnel, management of a noninvasive vascular testing or diagnostic facility, or education or training in the field of vascular technology.
The SVU Governance Committee will review all Technologist Director applications to ensure that candidates meet eligibility criteria and will forward recommendations for the final slate of candidates to the Board of Directors. The Governance Committee may consider additional candidates, and may opt to conduct candidate interviews. The final slate of candidates will be provided to the membership for election of one Technologist Director in July, 2023. Candidates not elected by the membership will be presented to the Board of Directors for the election of one additional Technologist Director at its August meeting. Candidates will be advised of their status during the process. OPPORTUNITY 2: At-Large Directors (2) - Each for a one-year termThe two At-Large Directors are one-year positions for 2024. At-Large Directors bring special skills and experience to SVU relevant to the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.Eligibility for At-Large DirectorsCandidates do not necessarily need experience in vascular ultrasound to serve as At-Large Directors, nor are they required to be SVU Members. However, they are encouraged to become SVU members, if elected.
The role of At-Large Directors is to supplement Board, Committee and staff efforts to move the organization forward in accordance with its strategic plan. Directors must have a willingness to actively apply their skills in the role of At-Large Director.

Obligations of all SVU Directors, regardless of category:Applicants for all Director positions must be able to commit to travel to two in-person meetings, one in winter (January) and one in summer (the day prior to the SVU Annual Conference), as well as participate in two or more conference calls during the year. Directors serve as Liaisons to and members of various SVU Committees, Board task forces and allied organizations; set the strategic vision and plan for the organization; provide guidance and feedback to the Executive Director; prepare for Board meetings by reviewing documents and providing feedback; and aid in the governance of the organization. Directors are expected to proactively participate and contribute to the organization year-round.
Covered Costs:Travel to and from the winter Board Meeting, lodging and meals are provided to Board members. This meeting is typically held in early-to mid-January.
All SVU Directors are expected to attend the SVU Annual Conference, which immediately follows the summer Board Meeting. Therefore, only one night of lodging prior to the Board meeting is covered by SVU, along with meals the day of the Board Meeting. Travel to and from the Annual Conference is NOT covered.
Process and Deadline:Submissions are due by Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:59pm ET.
Submit the online Board Application:• Include a single Professional Letter of Reference.• A Resume (or CV).• Additional letters of reference and a cover letter are optional. • Applicants submitting Resumes must still indicate their relevant skills and experience directly on the application.• Applicants MUST indicate their preference for consideration for the Technologist Director or At-Large Director positions.SVU Members will elect one Technologist Director. The election will occur electronically during July 2023, over a 3-week window.
One Technologist Director and two At-Large Directors will be elected by the SVU Board of Directors at its summer 2023 meeting on August 23, 2023.
Results will be publicly announced during the SVU Annual Conference on August 25, 2023.
