Purpose
The SVU Professional Performance Guidelines set the baseline for quality among practitioners of vascular sonography nationwide, and are increasingly referred to by sister agencies such as the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission and Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
The purpose of the Professional Performance Guidelines Review Committee is to consider each Guideline in detail to ensure each represents the highest levels of community consensus on the clinical practice of vascular ultrasound.
Responsibilities
Under the leadership of the Chair, committee members will assist in the review of the SVU Professional Performance Guidelines. The review will consider the nineteen Guidelines in detail to ensure each represents the highest levels of clarity and community consensus. The Chair is seeking 19 members for this committee, ideally with each member reviewing one guideline.
After the 2017 comprehensive review of the Guidelines, SVU will move to a triennial cycle whereby one-third of the Guidelines will be reviewed annually on a rotating basis.
The Committee will meet initially by phone to assign guidelines and a timeline for completion. Committee members are expected to contribute between meetings; solicit input from the professional community; and complete tasks assigned by the chair by the due date.
After the completion of the Guidelines review, the Committee may look at development of additional professional resources.
Eligibility
The Professional Performance Guidelines Review Committee is a high-profile assignment requiring substantial experience, research skills, professional commitment, and the drive to complete responsibilities in a thorough, timely and thoughtful manner.
Committee members must be SVU members and experienced vascular sonographers, including direct experience in the review of quality standards or laboratory protocols, in a consensus-driven setting.
