SVU will be implementing a formal process in selecting committee members starting in 2015. If you are currently serving on a committee and would like to continue with your term of service, you must submit an application as well. Open application period is from Oct. 15 - Dec. 15, with the term starting Jan. 1, 2015. Committee chairs will contact each applicant with a decision prior to the start date.
Each committee term is for 2 years. Applicant must be a paid-member for 2015 at the time of application to be considered.
Membership Subcommittee
The Membership Committee establishes criteria and procedures for admission, retention and severance of members as specified in the Bylaws. It is responsible for membership promotion and makes appropriate recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding such activities.
Chapters Subcommittee
Responsible for all activities relating to SVU Chapters and SVU, reporting activities and status of chapters to the Board of Directors.
Annual Conference Committee
The Annual Conference Committee plans the format and scientific content, including topics and speakers, of the SVU Annual Conference and develops policies for the Annual Conference. It submits plans for future annual conferences to the Board of Directors
Abstracts Subcommittee
The Abstracts Subcommittee reviews and grades the abstracts submitted for presentation at the Annual Conference and notifies the Annual Conference Chair of the abstracts that have received the highest grades.
Awards Subcommittee
The Awards Subcommittee administers the SVU Awards program and establishes policy and procedures for awards, with Board approval.
Academics Subcommittee
Reviews various educational opportunities for SVU, such as distance learning proposals, as well as appropriate requests for vascular technology.
CME Subcommittee
Oversees the efforts to develop opportunities for members to obtain continuing education credits. It reviews programs applying for SVU Continuing Medical Education (SVU-CME) credit hours (formerly Vascular Technology Credits (VTCs) and reviews and updates the SVU-CME Information Kit as necessary.
Meetings Subcommittee
Plans and provides for educational, regional, and special topic meetings. Its plans for future meetings are submitted to the Board of Directors.
The Meetings Subcommittee helps plan for course content, faculty, educational content and syllabus materials.
Products Subcommittee
Responsible for setting product policies and the development of new products which include elearning courses, publications, manuals, reference guides, and merchandise for the SVU membership.
Professional Guidelines Subcommittee
Responsible for developing and updating the SVU Professional Performance Guidelines as an adjunct to the Scope of Practice for the Diagnostic Ultrasound Professional© and the Clinical Practice Standards for the Diagnostic Ultrasound Professional©. The Guidelines represent a template of the minimal essential elements of performance as recommended by SVU.
Advocacy Committee
The Society for Vascular Ultrasound is involved in regulatory and legislative advocacy at the federal and state level in the areas of reimbursement, standards of practice, work conditions, and professional recognition. This committee shall:
- Advise the Board of Directors on matters related to SVU involvement with government agencies and Congress on various regulatory and legislative advocacy areas.
- Prepare articles on current or proposed regulations and legislation at the state and Federal level for the monthly eSpectrum newsletter.
Media Development Committee
Responsible for identifying topics and speakers for the SVU Webinar Series, as well as moderating the webinars.
